Episode 72" Arzeena Hamir of Amara farm"
Monday Jun 08, 2015
Monday Jun 08, 2015
Arzeena Hamir of Amara Farms, Merville Organics and
many others organizations came into the Edible Valley studio today to talk
organics. Arzeena is a noted food activist from Richmond BC who relocated to
the Valley years ago to establish a farm. An authority on organics and
sustainability, she is the driving force behind Merville Organics - a group of farmers upholding high standards for collective organic farming. It was
great just to hear her take on the entire process and where organic food is
heading here in the Valley. We look forward to checking in with Arzeena on a
regular basis to see how things develop for organic farming here in the Comox
Valley.

Chef Jonathan Frazier and
Darren Howlett are back this week to reflect on the last few shows and

up (or not coming up) in the next while for food in the Valley.

Episode 70 "Up and coming Restaurateurs"
Sunday May 17, 2015
Sunday May 17, 2015
Today's episode we get to sit down with Cat Leduc and Jake Tinkler-Josephi. It's great when we get to chat with friends from our daily routine about the Valley, food, and everything in between. We asked them to come on to the show as guests to talk about their newest venture: Toscano's Trattoria! At the time of taping, we weren't able to discuss the name of the venture, which made for some difficult conversational maneuvering, but we were able to cut to the details of becoming a restaurateur. It was refreshing to be able to talk to people just getting into the restaurant business. Their nervous energy and obvious excitement are infectious, and it's hard to not get swept up in it. We are so happy for them and proud that they are able to start living their dreams in food and in the Valley! Toscano's Trattoria

in on current events, they look ahead to the month in front of us, touching on
what we can expect over the next little while - mostly fact, with
a little bit of the rumour mill. Give a listen and let us know what

and business owner. Give a listen, as he touches on the
progression of cuisine and dining from the seventies through to now. He also

Episode 67 "Cumberland Brewery Company"
Sunday Apr 12, 2015
Sunday Apr 12, 2015
On tonight's episode, Chef Jon and Darren got to sit down with Darren of the Cumberland Brewing Company (already affectionately referred to as the CBC). All I can say is 'Wow'. We really love the way they are moving here. It can be quite difficult these days to open up a new venue or restaurant and be unique enough to really stand out. But the CBC has done just that. In very imaginative ways, they have redefined what it means to be a neighborhood pub; by fully embracing the 'neighborhood' part! Cumberland is the perfect place to open such a community based pub, and we foresee nothing but success for them. Take a listen as Darren explains it all, it's impossible to not get swept up in it all! 2732 Dunsmuir AveCumberland, British ColumbiaPhone: 250-400-2739 (BREW)Open : 12:00pm - 8:00pm

Episode 63 "Wayward Distillation House with Andrea Brimacombe"
Wednesday Mar 18, 2015
Wednesday Mar 18, 2015
Andrea from Wayward Distillation House sits down with Chef Jon and Darren in this exuberant episode! This is our fair Valleys' newest public distiller, and they are off to an amazing start. Using honey as a base for all of their liquors (yes honey!), they've immediately distinguished themselves from all competitors. Listen to this intriguing story of how they came to be, and how they set their roots in the valley. We love what they have planned, especially the part about sourcing all local valley flavours for their infused vodka line.
